The process
From conversation to canvas
1. The conversation. Email, call or use the contact form. Tell Summer what you have in mind and share reference photos. She will tell you honestly what will make a great painting.
2. Size and quote. Together you choose the size, medium and framing. You receive one clear price before anything begins.
3. The painting. Summer paints your piece by hand in her Georgia studio. Most commissions are ready within a few weeks, and she is happy to share progress along the way.
4. Delivery. Once the paint cures, your painting ships insured and carefully packed, arriving in 7 to 10 working days. Most sizes arrive ready to hang.
Pricing guide
Honest prices, gallery quality
Every commission is quoted individually, but the gallery itself is the best guide. Recent originals have ranged from $75 for a 6x6 daily study to $1,250 for large framed statement pieces. As a rule of thumb:
- Small studies (6x6 to 10x10)$75 to $200
- Classic sizes (11x14 to 16x20)$125 to $450
- Statement pieces (20x20 to 24x30)$300 to $750
- Large works (24x36 and beyond)$625 to $1,250 and up
- FramingOptional, quoted with your piece
- ShippingInsured, quoted by size and destination
Deposits secure your place on the easel, and Summer will never surprise you with a number you have not already agreed to.
Common questions
Before you ask
What photos work best?
Natural light, minimal blur, and the subject filling most of the frame. Phone photos are perfectly fine. Send several and Summer will pick the one with the most life in it, or combine elements from a few.
How long does a commission take?
Most pieces are completed within a few weeks depending on size and the current queue. Once finished and cured, shipping takes 7 to 10 working days. If you need a piece for a specific date, say so up front and Summer will tell you honestly whether it is possible.
What if I do not like it?
You will see the piece before it ships, and reasonable adjustments are part of the process. Summer paints until it is worthy of you. That is the studio promise.
Can you paint from an old or damaged photo?
Usually, yes. Faded prints, scanned slides and even screenshots have all become paintings. Send what you have and Summer will tell you what she can do with it.
Do commissions come framed?
Framing is optional and quoted with your piece. Gallery wrapped canvases (with painted edges) hang beautifully unframed. For framed work, Summer offers options including plein air gold, barn wood and modern metal cradle frames.
